1. Who we are and what this is
lcovid is operated by Maurits Huisman from the Netherlands. These Terms of Service govern your use of the lcovid platform at lcovid.io(“the Service”).
By creating an account, you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please do not use the Service.
2. What lcovid is — and is not
lcovid is:
- An educational knowledge base about Long COVID, sourced from peer-reviewed research
- An AI assistant that explains research findings in plain language
- A symptom and meal tracker to help you notice your own patterns
- A tool built by a patient, for patients and the people who care about them
lcovid is not:
- A replacement for professional medical care
- A diagnosis or treatment recommendation
- A regulated medical device or clinical decision support system
- A guarantee that any information, suggestion, or pattern it surfaces will help you recover
We are not doctors. We do not claim to cure Long COVID. We explicitly do not recommend that you start, stop, or change any treatment based on anything you read on lcovid. Every patient is different, and your care decisions should be made with qualified professionals who know your specific situation.
3. Beta status
lcovid is currently in early beta. This means:
- Features may be incomplete, buggy, or change without notice
- Data loss is possible, although we do our best to prevent it
- The platform is free during beta; we may introduce paid features in the future with advance notice
- We may pause or terminate the service with reasonable notice if it is not sustainable
4. Your account
You need an invite code to register. You are responsible for keeping your password secure and for all activity under your account. Please notify us at hello@lcovid.io if you suspect unauthorized access.
You must be at least 18 years old to use lcovid. You must provide accurate information when creating your account.
5. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use lcovid for any illegal purpose
- Impersonate another person or misrepresent your identity
- Attempt to access other users’ data
- Abuse our AI features (excessive automated queries, attempts to jailbreak prompts, etc.)
- Upload harmful, illegal, or offensive content
- Scrape, copy, or redistribute our knowledge base content without permission
- Use lcovid as a substitute for a real medical provider
6. AI-generated content
Our AI Q&A and meal analysis features are powered by third-party large language models. These models can make mistakes, hallucinate information, or misinterpret your inputs. You understand and accept that:
- AI responses are not guaranteed to be accurate
- You should verify anything important with qualified sources
- We log AI interactions to detect problems and improve the system
- AI responses do not create a doctor-patient relationship
7. Your content
You retain ownership of the content you create in lcovid (symptom entries, notes, meal photos, feedback). By using the Service, you grant us a limited license to store, display, and process that content for the sole purpose of operating lcovid.
We will never sell your content, share it with advertisers, or use your personal data for training AI models.
8. Wearable integrations
If you choose to connect a wearable device (e.g. Garmin), you authorize us to receive your health metrics from that device provider. You can disconnect at any time from your settings. We store this data only to show you your own trends — we do not share it.
9. Intellectual property
The lcovid brand, design, code, and knowledge base content are owned by the operator. You may link to lcovid freely. You may not copy or redistribute the content without written permission. Third-party research we cite remains the property of its original publishers.
10. Disclaimer of warranties
lcovid is provided “as is” and “as available” without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that information is accurate, complete, or up to date.
11. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, lcovid and its operator are not liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of the Service, including but not limited to decisions you make about your health.
Your sole remedy for dissatisfaction with the Service is to stop using it and delete your account.
12. Termination
You may delete your account at any time from your settings. We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these terms or use the Service in a way that harms others.
13. Governing law
These terms are governed by Dutch law. Disputes will be resolved in the courts of the Netherlands, unless mandatory consumer protection laws in your country provide otherwise.
14. Changes to these terms
We may update these terms as lcovid evolves. Material changes will be announced by email and in the app. Continued use of the Service after an update means you accept the new terms.
